Flood Management

With increasing public attention focusing on flood occurrence and mitigation owing to climate change, Gentek Consult has grown a large and diverse flood management division, capable of undertaking studies in relation to all aspects of flood risk management: flood risk mapping, catchment flood management and flood forecasting in the Turkey, Europe and Asia.

We have extensive experience in the development and use of mathematical models for the simulation of surface water systems and we are at the forefront of hydraulic and water quality model development. In recent years we have developed and successfully used a powerful range of mathematical models for simulating unsteady flow and water quality parameters in rivers, lakes and estuarine systems. We have current modelling commissions using software packages, HEC-RAS, ISIS, MIKE-11 and our in-house modelling packages HYDRO-1D.

We are also undertaking two-dimensional modelling for the analysis of flood conditions where a one dimensional model would not provide an adequate representation of the predicted flood spreading mechanisms. 2D modelling also allows outputs of flow velocities and depths which are increasingly being required in consideration of the hazard associated with flood events.
